Luma presents Shikishi: Shikishi - this Japanese drawing board is traditionally used for Shodo calligraphy or Sumi-E. But also in other artistic directions such as Manga and Anime Art as well as Western calligraphy and watercolour painting, these drawing boards are now widely used.
Shikishis are wonderful gifts, souvenirs or sales items. For example, autographs and drawings from a favourite artist can be collected on them. As an artist you can create small originals for sale on them.
The front of the cardboard board (136 x 121 mm) is laminated with white Gasenshi paper. The back is pastel yellow coloured and has fine silver inclusions. The cards are edged with a 1 to 2 mm wide, noble gold edge. This underlines the special character and high quality of the small works of art that are created on them.
The solid cardboard is about 2 mm thick and extremely stable. The works of art and dedications are thus optimally protected against tears and creases. The paper on the front has a matt surface with a very light, fine line structure The Gasenshi paper is acid-free and resistant to ageing.
With the Shikishis the front can be painted or written on with Sumi Ink, China inks, liners, markers (also alcohol-based), watercolours or gouache.
