Luma presents Shikishi:
Shikishi - traditionally this Japanese drawing board is used for Shodo calligraphy or Sumi-e.
But in the meantime the drawing boards are also very popular with Manga and Anime artists.
Shikishis can be used in many ways: as gifts, souvenirs or sales items. Collectors and fans can have autographs and drawings by a favourite artist immortalised on them. The artists themselves can offer their designed Shikishis for sale.
The front of the cardboard board (212 x 182 mm) is laminated with white Gasenshi paper. On the pastel yellow back there are fine silver inclusions. The cards are finished with a 1 to 2 mm wide gold edge. This underlines the special character and high quality of the small works of art that are created on them.
With a thickness of about 2 mm the solid cardboard is extremely stable. Dedications and works of art are thus optimally protected against tears and creases.
The paper on the front has a matt surface and a very light, fine line structure.
The Gasenshi paper is acid-free and resistant to ageing.
Application:
With the Shikishis the front side can be painted or written on with Sumi Ink, China inks, liners, markers (also alcohol-based), watercolours or gouache.
