Luma presents Shikishi:
Shikishi - traditionally this Japanese drawing board is used for Shodo calligraphy or Sumi-E.
But also manga and anime artists as well as western calligraphers and watercolour painters are enjoying great popularity with these drawing boards.
Shikishis can be used as gifts, souvenirs or sales items. Collectors and fans can, for example, have autographs and drawings by a favorite artist immortalized on them. Artists have small originals with designed Shikishis, which they can offer for sale.
The front of the box (273 x 242 mm) is laminated with white Gasenshi paper. The pastel yellow back has fine silver inclusions. At the edge the cards are edged with a 1 to 2 mm wide, noble gold rim. This underlines the special character and high quality of the small works of art that are created on it.
The solid cardboard is about 2 mm thick and extremely stable. The works of art and dedications are thus optimally protected against tears and creases.
The paper on the front is matt and has a very light, fine line structure.
The Gasenshi paper is acid-free and resistant to ageing.
With the Shikishis the front can be painted or written on with Sumi Ink, China inks, liners, markers (also alcohol-based), watercolours or gouache.
